A New York Times article on global avian decline inspired Isa to paint a series of endangered bird portraits to raise awareness of vulnerable species. The Nenes numbers are on the rise after coming close to extinction in the 1950s. Also known as the Hawaiian Goose, their favorite food is the Ohelo berries that grow on lava.
