I painted this piece using wallpaper designs for inspiration and a knave from a vintage deck of playing cards. I was trying to come to terms with a knave in my own life (not my husband, I should mention, but a swindler)— and this painting helped me exorcise the scoundrel. At least from my own mind. 2012
