In 1999 I took a trip to Morocco. The textures, the colors, the bustle, and the desert were constant sources of inspiration. This pattern was inspired by colorful striped bowls in the Marrakesh souk. This is one of several line paintings I made in response to the famous plein air market. 2000

Love that casts a widening pool of light. Love with no need to preempt grievance. In today's sharp sparkle, this winter air, anything can be made, any sentence begun. On the brink, on the brim, on the cusp -- praise song for walking forward in that light."">

These winter weight chiffon scarves are heavy enough for winter but don't have the itchy feeling of wool and can go outdoors to indoors without breaking you into a sweat. Designs all unique to the studio.">

I always grow a little melancholy when the flowers fall into their big sleep and the leaves are gone. The antidote? I plant bulbs and start plotting out moves for the next season and that lifts me right out of the blues. Over the years my purple and blue flowers have been dominating the color field, so I’m trying to heat things up with yellows and pinks and reds starting with my bulb empire. These sunflowers and asters prove that the best color theory instruction is often underfoot. Is your garden design guided by climate, texture, whim or color? Or all of the above?">

They are not slick or polished or ready for the outside world, but they do provide a record — a forensic trail of creative inspiration. My sketchbooks go where I go — there is always something to draw, to record, to celebrate. My favorite pens are made by @tombowusa and @kuretakezig_usa . What are your tools of the trade?">
