Product Story
In 1997, Catto attended the Fiesta de Niño Fidencio in Espinazo, Mexico. This festival brings thousands of people from all over Mexico to this small town on the border of Nuevo Leon and Coahuila. This festival is a curandero festival, celebrating the life of the folk healer José Fidencio de Jesús Sintora Constatino. One night, celebratory fireworks rained down on a stretch of ocotillo plants, which had grown together to form a spiny fence, and gave her inspiration for this painting. The painting addresses the intersection of mysticism, celebration, and piety as an expression of faith and healing. “Fireworks in Espinazo” original framed watercolor painting.
