I have started a new series in an uncharacteristic style for me. I tend towards abstraction but shifted to a more representational approach for this particular project. After reading about the global catastrophic decline in avian species last year, I started to sketch and research birds to increase my connection and knowledge. This is the California Condor or Gymnogyps californianus, whose population was severely reduced over the last century. Lead poisoning and shooting depleted the condor population to 22 individuals, but it has since increased to 312 condors in the wild and 173 individuals in captivity.
