Monkey King

Years ago, I read about the legend of Sun Wukong or the Monkey King. The narrative has many twists, but ultimately it is a tale of adventure and transcendence. My take on the Monkey King is a studio favorite, and I adapted an iconic William Morris pattern for the background. Watercolor is a fickle medium, so painting freestyle from an intricate design with numerous repeats took all of my attention and helped me appreciate all of the lyricism embedded in good wallpaper design.
