There are many ways to wear a scarf, but using one as a halter-top is great for a warm summer day. Our simple tutorial will show you how to make a cool, airy top with just a few tools.
What you will need:
1. Organic Cotton Scarf in your favorite pattern
2. Pins
3. A ruler
4. Needle and thread (Or a sewing machine if you have one handy)
5. Thick fabric ribbon, or excess fabric strips
Steps:
1. Open up your scarf, then fold it in half across the diagonal to create a triangle. Make sure that the backside of the scarf is facing outwards.
2. Measure five inches from the tip of the triangle on both sides (if you prefer a wider neckline, you can make that distance a little bit longer on each side).
3. Starting at the five inch mark, pin seven inches of fabric along both edges of the triangle.
4. Either hand sew or machine sew along the pinned area on both sides. try to sew as close to the original seam as possible.
5. Once you have finished sewing, flip the scarf inside out so that the new seam you've just created is hidden.
6. Take your fabric scraps or ribbon (or even another scarf) and pass the ends through the opening at the point of the triangle to create a loop, and pull them through the large openings on both sides of the triangle. Tuck in the loose edges at the top.
7. Pull the loop over your head, and tie the ends of the fabric behind you. Now you've got a stunning halter-top perfect for a beautiful summer day!
The best part is that once you remove the fabric, you still have a fully functional triangle scarf. We hope you enjoy your unique top, and as always, keep art in hand.
